About Pluck
“Pluck” - to have spirited and determined courage
Pluck is an award-winning series of sensory mini-theatre shows, using puppetry and live harp music, originally created for paediatric patients at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
Pluck has been developed by two CW+ (the official charity of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital) Resident Artists, puppeteer Joni-Rae Carrack and harpist Mark Levin and is a part of the charity's Arts For All programme. The shows explore themes of space, Artic wild-life, wrestling and having “pluck” which have been created to respond to patients emotional and wellbeing needs.
Pluck encourages patients to interact, experiment and engage in theatre and music in an environment where they may not expect to experience the arts.
Pluck creates little enjoyable moments that help to create a collection of positive changes for patients during their stay in hospital. We aim to encourage patients to engage in their own creativity and to give them time to relax and enjoy the arts - which all helps to create the conditions for healing.
